5 Minute Christmas Decorating

I have a little problem.....when it comes to decorating....I don't have a lot of patience. I love decorating. I love staring at a room and figuring out how to change things.....or how it would work better. My problem....once I have figured out how I want to decorate.....I want it done quickly. No waiting. It must get done pronto. It's like all my adrenaline rushes and I must.decorate.now.

So, when I decided to decorate for Christmas....I wanted it done quickly. Literally, I believe it took me 5 minutes.....well, probably 15 minutes.... to Christmas-orate our home.

I decided not to put ornaments on our tree this year. It wasn't a big deal to anyone...the boys are not very interested in decorating the tree. Instead, I found a spool of ribbon and wrapped it around the tree.....along with some hay stuff (can't think what it's called). The hay stuff was actually still on the tree from last year. Did I mention that we've been using fake trees for the past few years?

Everything else....I just took out of the box and scattered about. I threw some pre-lit garland over the window hardware. Done.

I love having the white lights glowing in the evening. Only problem....I have a mini energy saver/safety guy living with me. The first evening that I lit my trees and garland....Sammy went around unplugging the lights and lecturing me on safety issues. I had to explain to him that...."momma needs her white lights". I swear I really do. There is something so cozy about white Christmas lights.....I love having them on.

Wanna come do mine in 15 minutes? I guess we'll get to ours tomorrow or Thursday and it will take me all day! Then to decorate the outside....I dread it!

BTW, I have that same cookie jar. Maybe I'll steal your idea because I forgot to get an apothecary jar while out yesterday.

Girl. . . I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your 15-minute decorating. . . and to put the icing on the cake. . . it looks amazing. It has literally taken me ALL DAY LONG with very much cleaning up to get out all of my decorations. It was fun, but it put my booty in the bed by 7:45 last night. I'll be blogging on it soon.

I am so ready to get our stuff out and go cut down our tree...but I just don't have time this week so we'll have to do it this weekend!

The kids have little mini-trees in their room and they are too cute!

I can't be w/o our ornaments though..they tell quite a story about our life and I even have some that I made when I was little and all the ones the kids have made...we get one on every trip or city we go to...so, that's really my favorite part about the decorating!

Oh, I'm with ya, Mimi!!!

Get it done... FAST! Problem is that it takes us a couple of hours to "assemble" our fake tree, get the lights on, go through the TONS of ornaments that each kid gets to put on (their own), and then pull out my big collection of SNOWMEN (which I love).

Thus the reason our house is NOT decorated for Christmas yet. No time for HOURS of work yet. Ugggh.

I love the ribbon around the tree. I want to do that to mine. I get tired of decorating about half way through, and I start throwing things anywhere!
Is the hay stuff your talking about Raffia?

I agree, there is nothing cozier than christmas lights. Ashton asked me the other night, "Can we turn these off, we're just wasting energy". Haha, I had to remind him it was the only lights on in the living room, if we turned them off it would be dark!
I've been trying to spread out the decorating, our it becomes too overwhelming and not fun. We did the tree this weekend and I'll do the rest next weekend.
Love the gold wire tree!

WOW!....that looks great. I love decorating too...but it takes me forever...my boys aren't interested in decorating either...so I just tell them Christmas is coming...and then one night when they go to bed...they wake up with the whole house decorated. The thought it'd be today since it's the first...but I'm tricking them...I'm doing it THrusday! I can't wait!

Mimi, the tree looks naked, bare, no clothes on it's skinny lil bod. Please spend five more minutes and give the poor thing a skirt. It will love you forever.

My tree wants to be naked. I offered skirts, blankets....nope, my tree just wants to wear white lights and ribbon ;)

Your house looks lovely! And I'm SURE you are actually FEELING like it's Christmas as compared to us with 85 degree weather!!!

Hi Mimi, I love your decorations and your house. I wanted to keep my tree just plain with lights, like its sparkling out in the forest, but no one else wanted that...oh well another time perhaps. I love your new blog header/style, its great!
Hope all is well in the gorgeous Finger Lakes, I'm missing the Ithaca Farmers market a lot...
