Sea Legs

I'm trying hard to adjust my sails.....and working on  keeping my sea legs steady.

"We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. "     2 Corinthians 4:8–9

........."We all will have shipwrecks in our lives in some way, shape, or form. The reality of life is that we are either coming out of a storm or we are going into one. That is just the way it is. There are times when we will have smooth sailing. There are times when the sky will be blue and the sun will be shining. There will be beautiful moments in our lives in between the storms. Thank God for those moments.

But the reality is that we can live a prosperous life in the will of God and still face conflict. Paul went through a shipwreck on his way to Rome, but he had a prosperous journey by the will of God because of what it ultimately accomplished. That is a different definition of prosperity than we may normally think of.

It has been said that you can't direct the wind, but you can adjust your sails. I cannot control the world. I would love to if I could. Nor can I control the circumstances that come my way. But I can control my reaction to them. I can redirect my sails and adapt.

We all will face storms, difficulties, and even shipwrecks. So it is time for us to develop our sea legs and not focus so much on how to avoid storms, but on how to get through them, how to survive them, and how to learn the lessons that we can only learn in such places. " - from Harvest Daily Devotion by Greg Laurie ----------

I know what you are going through, on a different level, but still the same. I know that trials make us stronger. I know the Lord loves us so much and I know that we have to trust Him. I know all of that, but it is still hard. I'm thankful for friends who keep my family and me in daily prayer, but it's still hard. It also makes me feel better to know that other people are struggling. I know that sounds rude but I don't mean it to be. To be in this boat by myself would be very hard and I'm glad I'm not in it alone. I will be praying for you guys too.

Those verses in Corinthians are some of my favorite.

Yea, I don't think it was any "easy task" for Noah to go through the mother-of-all storms... on a boat filled with at least two of EVERY SMELLY ANIMAL in existence, yet he did. God saw him through it, led him through it, and He will see us through ours.

Praying for you today, Mimi!

So true, but such a hard thing to find your 'sea legs'. Keep reaching out to the Lord and you will make it through. In the meantime you can count on your prayer warriors to be on their knees for your sake.
Have a peaceful day Mimi!

Thanks for posting this. We are going through a difficult time in our life right now also. I know the Lord always provides a way, but it is easy to worry.

Beautiful post. Thank you for sharing.
Blessings to you and your family! Better days are coming. Sometimes God has better plans for us than we can imagine for ourselves.

Great, great verse. We are never abandoned by God and are not destroyed. I heard somebody saying the other day that if you are walking in close fellowship with God you will definitely go through those valleys. He is shaping us and developing our faith.

This is so encouraging to me today, Mimi! It is a difficult time for our family- my husband is looking for another job to make ends meet and I honestly want you to know that I will be praying for you! We all need prayers during the storm!

I will continue to pray. The other side of the storm is beautiful because there is often sunshine and rainbows and the reminder that God keeps His promises...praying you get there soon.
Blessings,
Amy

We're going into the same exact mode. Our supplemental savings is out, it's the slow time for Josh's work and there is no telling. I always look back feeling grateful and realizing I have no right not to trust my life in God's hands. And for once I'd like to face the unknown with excitement, like you said. Why do we always expect the stone and not the bread from God?

But, I think that there are many things in life that must be surrendered, so that peace may enter and reside within us. My life is not my house, where I live, my car, my bank account, my job, my anything - it is my family - my kids and my marriage.

Praying for you peace, my friend!!

Hugs
