Summer Lovin'

It feels like summer has been in swing for a while, but really it's only just begun. The young girls in our complex invited us down to watch their fairy tale play.

The play was elaborate....during intermission they passed out lemonade.

We've made daily use of our complex playground. We may not have our own back yard anymore, but we have had a lot of fun on the courts and fields.

Most evenings, we try to get in some rugby drills. This has been the one sport that I have embraced. Greg and I run back and forth passing the ball....it's a fun way to exercise. I usually don't exercise unless it's disguised in fun.

Greg's been teaching the boys about scrums {pictured above}. I don't understand all the lingo yet, but it's entertaining.

Thankful for large pieces of land to run and play.....and for energy to do it all.

I've been doing some purging {it's never ending, people!}.....and I've been just plain 'ol trying to keep focused on the positive. After my last post about the lesson I recently learned.....well, I've been thinking deeper about a few things. I'm trying to be "still" more. To disregard the negative stuff and to accentuate the positive.

We all need to do it from time to time. Sort of, cleaning the soul closet.
It's so easy to get caught up in the wrong direction. Those wrong turns can be good for us.....they ultimately put us in the right direction.

My mom recently told me that I'm just like my nana {her mom }....she said that I've always had a strong reaction to injustice....just like nana. My problem is that I don't always know how to communicate or respond to the injustice. Something I'm going to ponder...while cleaning my closet.

Looks like tons of family fun. I totally need to focus more on the positive and I too need to find a better way to deal with what I feel are injustices. Have a fabulous 4th!!

I love your outdoor pictures - looks like you guys had fun. I wish was there with you with my family :( Life is unfair!

I'm working on what I let myself dwell on also. If you can purge your closet, you can purge your head! I go through my material stuff and say, "Is this useful, do I need this, or is taking up space and stressing me out?" It's really no different with your thoughts.

Blistering hot AZ hugs for you!

Here is a quote Josh just posted on his FB, I think it applies:

"The way to overcome negative thoughts and destructive emotions is to develop opposing, positive emotions that are stronger and more powerful" ~Dalai Lama

Words from the wise!

I'm still fascinated with your family's love of rugby. It isn't popular at all here in NC (or at least that I'm aware and I'm pretty deep into sports). You should video them playing sometime....I would love to see them in action.

Purging thoughts/negative feelings...I really only harbor them for the M-I-L and about the time I let go, she goes and does something else. It's never-ending here.

The never ending neg. stuff is so hard to deal with! When you are forced to continue a relationship with someone who feeds negativity....so hard.

Rugby is getting more pop. on the east coast. Our high schools back home have rugby teams. Many of the families in our league are from South Africa. Greg has inspired our interest in the game :)

That is so awesome, and definitely a blessing, having all that land and outdoor equipment so close by. We are going STIR crazy in this small house, with nothing to do. No pool, no swingset, no basketball goal...all the things that were at our other home. I'm trying my hardest to be content in ALL situations, but somedays are easier than others!!!

I can't believe how much your boys have grown just since I saw them a litte over a year ago. I am so THANKFUL that ever happened!!! Okay, not what this post was about(just thinking back).

I too like Tara think it is so neat how you have embraced Rugby with your boys. I seriously don't know a single thing about it.
