We decided it was time to head into the city. I have to tell you.....the tunnels, bridges, multi line chaotic bus crowded driving.....is not my thing. I just about wear down the carpet in the floor with my fake passenger side brake. The boys would be cheering about all the long and high bridges....and I would close my eyes and pray. Once we are in the city.....that's a whole other driving experience. Thankfully, Greg travels in often for work and navigates the road like a champ.
Central Park was our destination. A little soccer game was about to start. We decided to sit and watch a bit. We walked around and experienced the fun of the city.
Jamba Juice was one of our destinations. Delicious.
We also had one of the best slices of pizza.....ever {at a tiny pizza joint}. As well as experiencing some
fun conversation with the restaurant employees.
After this photo was taken we were told there was a no picture rule in Jamba Juice. Though
none of the employees knew why. I can't believe that I am only a head taller than the boys. They have always measured high for height {usually 2 yrs older than their age-say what!} and I have always measured short {I was almost always the shortest in my class-I'm now 5'2"}I believe they will soon be taller than their mama {and they are only 8}
We spent 4 hours walking and touring the city. It was such a great day.
Made us wonder why we don't do it more often. It made Ross and Greg wonder why we don't just move
into the city.
I'm not sure that I'll ever be a fan of the traffic and fast {honking} drivers.

You know how much I love NYC but I couldn't live there. There is that creepy Statue of Liberty person...
Glad you had fun..I don't mind the NYC ratrace traffic as long as I'm in a big tour bus or in a car that isn't my own (taxi). It's like bumper cars :-)
Central Park....on the list of one of the places I would love to visit. Not even sure why, but it always sounded intriguing. Glad you all got to go visit New York City...looks like you had a grand time!!!
Ugh...SOOOO Jealous! I mean really Mimi...you have some of THE BEST resources, EVER, in your backyard! What an awesome experience to be homeschooling near New York City!! The museums, the plays, the history...so awesome!
Looks like you had a fabulous day. And yes! I would be there like every single stinking weekend! We LOVE to walk around places like that!!!
We need to house trade for a time (but then we'd miss one another in the process!LOL)
Oh, you could SO move into the city with the two boys! I know I would be concerned about crime, etc. but when we were there for our 2-day visit, just hubby and I, we pondered a bit over how it would be to live in the city. We loved it there! Alas, it doesn't seem to be the place for someone with five children, simply because we could not afford a place big enough....and of course the other issues. ;) Looks like you had a great time. I miss it. You should go to Cafe Napoli in Little Italy sometime...we had a delicious meal there. Thanks for sharing the pics. And from your previous email....YES, we actually ARE missing the snow!! :(
It looks like you had a great day. I can't believe you live THAT close to NYC. I've always said I'd love love love to visit there, but I don't think I'm a big city mouse. I'm not a country mouse either, but I'm probaby a suburban mouse. Just put me in the middle where I can go to both.
Jamba Juice doesn't let you take photos?? That is just weird. I would want to find out why! Very odd.
As for the fast cars and the imaginary driver side brakes, my car has those as well (winky face). Of course, I'm just outside Phoenix and I'm going bananas.
Glad you had fun! Love your cute and sassy picture! Your boys ARE tall! Oh my!
If you move into the city, you can sell the car and never have to drive in traffic again!! Of course, you would all be sharing a 1 bedroom apartment.... and you'd soon go broke..... but you would be living in NYC!!!! Go for it :-)
